Thanks for Making Animals For Easter a Huge Success!

Our Cambodia team would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Animals for Easter program! It has been wildly successful and we’ll be able to distribute a wide array of seeds, chickens, pigs, and cows in the Peak Sneng community—and it’s all thanks to YOU! We are stoked to be able to get to Cambodia, set up the co-op within the community, and train them with information about how to help their animals stay healthy and become profitable assets. We have already been in contact with a local representative in the community and have been informed about how excited the community is getting for this program to take place.

When the Youthlinc team arrives in Cambodia this June, we will be providing training to the families in the community so they understand how to take care of their animals— the animals’ health, what and how to feed them, and how to keep them safe. Upon receiving an animal from Youthlinc, the families commit to provide veterinary care to the animals with some of the money they start making from their animal. Also, after a given amount of time, the family will be required to repay the loan of the animal they were given by giving fertile offspring of the animal to another family within the community. This way, the benefit of the program eventually spreads to many families within the community. Training will also be given about how to be more successful with their gardening techniques. A garden at a local school will also be planted as a model and to help feed students.

Peak Sneng, the community in Cambodia, is very poor. They have no clean water, no electricity, no sewage system, and not enough food to eat each day. The families here often go hungry. By providing livestock and better gardening techniques for the community, the economy will stabilize, families will have more regularity with food abundance, and eventually larger business ventures can be pursued, moving this community out of poverty.
